The Citadel R3 is the third edition in the weatherproof Black Ember EDC pack series. The R3 features the latest textile: EmberTex™.

With EmberTex™, Black Ember has removed all PFAS (forever chemicals) from their supply chain. EmberTex™ is a twisted nylon 6 with an abrasion resistant matte finish, a lustrous texture and a smooth hand feel. The 1200x600 Denier gives it more structure for ease of packing and access.

Combined with YKK Aquaguard zippers, the R3 is durable and weatherproof. Laser-cut and Bonded hypalon panels embedded in the R3’s shell add structure where it's needed. Ergonomic 3D shoulder straps with two densities of EVA foam provide both cushion and support. The pack also has a contoured back-panel with an air-channel to keep you cool and dry. The Citadel 25 also features the latest T6 anodized aluminum hardware.

The Citadel 25 is designed to keep your gear organized and protected. Your essentials are right at hand in the quick access pocket and laser-cut, locking zipper pulls help secure your gear. The magnetic tablet sleeve fits iPads up to 13 inches and there’s a separate laptop pocket that's both padded and suspended. Compression straps are great for attaching gear to the outside and you can carry the R3 in brief mode with a modular side handle. 

All Black Ember products are made using the Bond-Stich™ high-precision construction. All textile components are laser-cut for precise assembly. This construction yields a functional, durable pack with a blacked-out, minimal aesthetic.

An exceptional backpack.

An exceptional backpack. It exceeded my expectations! The materials used are of high quality, the backpack is easy to use, and comfortable to carry. I used it as carry-on luggage for my four-day trip to Copenhagen with the FlixBus. I carried three packing cubes, a MacBook, an iPad, a notepad and sketchbook, and a bike repair kit. In Copenhagen, I used it as a backpack when I explored the city on my Fixie. It’s worth his money…

Great backpack and great seller

Phenomenal backpack with great build quality.
I mean I expected that after coming from the r2 which I used and abused for the past 4-5years with motorcycle driving even during the winter with the slaty water that got splashed on it over and over.
I’m looking forward to another 5 years with this new one.
And Mukama was really fast at shipping and order processing.

Just what I needed!

I like how simple and versatile it is. The outside front pockets are even more handy then expected: The bottom one even fits a water bottle and a smallish thermos. The spacious inside is super useful and I really appreciate the separate laptop compartment. I don’t really use the smaller compartments on the inside. The bag is a bit heavy but hopefully proofs to be really durable!
