Civic Panel Loader 16 L Backpack

Since I was already very satisfied with the PLC20, I was looking for a backpack that would hold its shape well even when empty. There’s not much to say: the CPL does exactly that.

It has a very nice silhouette yet offers plenty of storage space if you want to carry a lot of things. The shoulder straps sometimes slip a bit off my shoulders, but it’s not a big deal. Despite the straps, the backpack has been my daily companion for over a year. From simple shopping trips and commutes to the office to walks where I might want to stash my jacket or carry a drink. In short, a great backpack.

I already had the 24L version, but it was too big for daily use. This size is perfect. Even though it is a 16L bag, it feels like it can hold more. The organization is great. I love the yoke pocket, can hold bigger laptops. I customized it with orange zippers, and you can also add your favorite Velcro patches.
The only downside for me is the on-the-go access. You need to swing the bag from the left side, but I prefer to carry my bag on the right side. It is a bit disappointing that they do not offer a mirror version. Other than that, it is perfect.

High-quality, practical, and beautiful. Expensive, but totally worth the money.

After using 2 months my CTB 20 as EDC bag I felt that is was indeed too much for my office, at least for what I usuallly carry (a water bottle, a tech pouch, an umbrella, some keys and my lunch). So I've purchased the CPL 16 after seeing many reviews and... what can I say? It's much much sleeker and the 840 nylon gives it a different feeling. More durable but the CTB 20 is a travel bag, with the same material it would have been too heavy I guess. Now I have the pairing for my needs. For long weekends the CTB 20 with the Transit Packing Cube is a perfect companion leaving a lot of space for whatever else you want to carry, for my EDC in office the CPL 16 is the best I could ask. Once more with this product Evergoods have nailed it.

After the excellent Evergoods CHZ 22 backpack, I couldn't resist and bought the CPL 16, which I don't go to work without. Thanks to the Mukama team for the exceptional store and excellent customer support.

Great EDC bag for office daily carry. Water bottle fit inside no problems at all, for sure bigger than the capacity stated. Very comfortable, used also for a short weekend. Packed tight but works very well for that too!

Carries brands that are otherwise really hard to find in Europe.

This is a "buy for life" (or at least for many years) for me (and of course something that is subjective), the aesthetics of the bag are amazing and for me the whole bag is amazing...
Since I do use the bag almost everyday for more than a year, I do believe that the key holder is in the right position, because it would be far tougher to lose the keys being on the upper part of the bag and since you mostly carry it in your shoulder it is tougher to fall off, to lose them... Now if you really want to carry your keys in the front pocket you can still do it easily, just attach yourself a little key holder on the zipper of this pocket! Problem solved.
Yes the bag is heavier for such a smaller bag but the shape (and keeping it!) and protection/cushioning of the bag are amazing, that is one of the reasons the bottom of the bag is "hard" and these things metnioned here is why is heavier.
For me it is better that there is no outside water bottle pocket, because the aesthetics of the bag would be far worse and I have no problem of having a bottle inside the bag and if someone really really wants to, they can either attach an external water bottle holder or just have a water bottle hang with a carabiner...
The only real critisism that I did find as a small annoyance from time to time, is that the zipper of the top pocket is too close with the zipper of the laptop/papers pocket and sometimes, since they are pulled to different directions I may pick the other one from the one I want...
Another critisism of the bag was/is that some people find that it hurts them in the lower back (that the hard base/lower part of the bag hits them in their back... The solution I found, and something that many mention is that you need to have things in the bag when you carry it (that is the reason you got it in the first place, right?) so that the bag extends and the lower part of the structure does not "hit" the lower part of your back in an inconvinient way.
For me, this is an amazing and so beautiful bag, that especially if you are on the minimal side it can really be great for almost everything. Unfortunately I am not able to touch and experience other versions of this bag with other materials... That is the only thing that might make me consider change it, but other than that, this is an amazing bag,- (very well thought, very well designed/engineered/created) - for me and I really hope that I will enjoy it for years to come... The bag has pretty much perfect size and organisation for work: carries a laptop, peripherals, phone, notebook, keys etc., and fits a spare jacket/sweater or small shoppings on top of that. The backpack/briefcase hybrid style works perfectly, just carry it normally and set it down sideways to start working.

As a downside, the bag is quite heavy even after removing the support bars and plates (which also makes it a bit more accommodating), and the shoulder straps never really sit perfectly on me. I'm not entirely sure I would have chosen this bag if I had a chance to test it in a store, but the organisation is so good that I decided to keep it anyway.

The Backpack:
The backpack is the best small backpack one could get for the money. Quality, utility, comfort, looks, it has it all.

I believe this backpack can be the perfect backpack if it only had a strap on the back to put it on a carry on luggage and to tuck in the straps when carrying horizontally. The rest is top notch.

I easily fit a 16-inch macbook pro, a 13-inch macbook pro, a TomToc bag, my headphones, utilities (leatherman, kindle, apple charger) etc inside of it and it has room for more stuff (raincoat, bottle).

This bag is 16L but it feels bigger. It has a lot of things I like in a bag: large handles, good quick access, clamshell opening, good materials, the laptop compartment is excellent and easily allows me to carry a 14” MacBook as well as a table or remarkable. I also find it comfortable to wear. The main drawback for me it’s the weight.
