The New Black Ember Forge
I have been following black ember forge for some time and finally decided to pull the trigger on this bag.

I very much liked the features that bag had so it seemed like a good match for me. Lots of different compartments for organization (which I love), a very nice padded and suspended pc compartment (so good that I do not use sleeves for a Lenovo P1 15", which is very pricey so I trust this compartment completely), and a possibility to expand the bag to gain 10 liters of capacity going from EDC work bag to a 2-day travel bag.
I have been using it for 2 months now and it is the most comfortable bag that I have ever carried as a back pack, the shoulderpads are really great and they fit very well on my chest, they wrap you relly nicely and are very well padded.
It also have a very minimalistic look, expecially if you remove the side handles. It looks very professional and nice.
Love the mag lock in the front compartment that I use for my car keys. Also the front compartment is really the best I ever had, great space and organization for everything you should need a quick access.
Side handles are also nice, I always use them to get my bag off of my shoulders.

All in all the bag is great but it has a few downsides.

First of all the compression straps. I tought they wouldn't be a big deal but they are, especially if you want to use it as a travel bag. At this price point (over 300€) you should have included something this essential (going to need to spend other 40€+shipping for this). Also the compression straps (as much as the side handles) are always going to be in your way when opening the bag because of horizontal clam shell opening.
And here we get to the second thing: the horizontal clam shell opening. This bag cannot be used as a backpack, it can be carried as such but not used as one because all the comparments are horizontal and so is the opening of the bag. If you want to get something out of the bag, you are going to need to put the bag down in a horizontal position. I do not like the fact that no metter how you put down your bag it is always going to get dirty as it doesn't have rubbered side on it (my last chrome backpack had it and it was very usefull, mostly on rainy days).
Lastly, it has a lot of pockets but they are all bidimensional. If you put something thicker it is going to make the bag look odd and is going to be more difficult to close it.
The only real place to put things with third dimension is the main compartment where there are no organizational features.

That beeing said, I really like the bag. It gives a very nice feeling, like I said it is VERY confortable to carry as a backpack, great look and color and I enjoy using it. I gave 4 stars because of the absence of the compression straps in the basic package.

Awesome bag
Great daily with a lot of room and flexibility. Amazing quality.

A little bit heavy if your looking for purely a briefcase. But that’s what you get with an expandable bag. Big enough to get me through a weekend getaway. In backpack mode it’s a dream.
