Alpha Pen Titanium
Alpha Pen is designed from the ground up for only the Montblanc Fineliner or Montblanc Rollerball cartridges. This ensures that all components in this pen fit like a door in a German car - no extra parts to lose or fiddly springs. Precision machined in California, by a real machinist who takes pride in his work. The Alpha Pen isn't cheap and it isn't for everyone, but the price represents the real costs of manufacuring quality goods in small batches in the United States. Raw finish.
Before you buy, please note:
- Pens do not include a Montblanc refill. We recommend purchasing the refill directly from Montblanc website or at your local Montblanc retail store. Compatible Montblanc refills: Fineliner and Rollerball
- A heavy lubricating "break-in" oil has been applied to the threads during assembly. When your pen is new, please be cautious of this oil getting on things like your shirt pocket. Titanium threads should never be run dry, and you may wipe the threads to clean them, but you should not use cleaning solvents that dissolve oil.
- A break-in period should be expected with the titanium pens. Titanium is a "galling" material, which means it is very intolerant of friction. Some tightness or roughness is normal, and should disappear with regular use. Over time, the lubricated thread surfaces will polish themselves and smooth out. This polishing action will "carry off" some of the titanium and produce a black residue. Remove the residue by wiping down the threads (tissue and/or Q-Tips). After the threads are broken in, a very light oil should suffice, or may not even be necessary.

Worth every penny
This will be by far my favourite pen right from now. Feels incredible well balanced and is very well build. This will last a lifetime. I recommend to go for the original Montblanc filling. (Beware, the Montblanc Legrand will not fit!!)
