Matte 12-Pack Pencils
Blackwing Matte pencils are ideal for illustrators and writers who prefer a soft, dark line. The Japanese graphite core is specially formulated for smooth writing and drawing. The hexagonal casing is crafted from incense-cedar that sharpens evenly and easily, featuring matte black finish and gold imprint. White, extendable and replaceable eraser is placed inside the iconic square ferrule which is practical and gives it a distinct look.

Blackwing Matte Pencils
I decided to try out Blackwing pencils for the first time and I'm glad I did! I use these for sketching and I'd say they feel similar to a 4B-5B pencil in terms of softness. High quality and a pleasure to use, recommended!

Great perfect
Palomino pens are really the best. They are smooth, elegant in hand, excellent writing tool even black one which has soft graphite core.

Great pencils with very soft graphite
I've been buying Blackwing pencils for several years and love the touch and smell of them. With a proper sharpener you can sharpen them very precisely. Writing with them helps me think and catalyses my thoughts in a creative fashion. These are very soft which means they wear out sooner and the graphite also tends to smudge If that is not your thing, you might want to use balanced or firm graphite such as Blackwing Pearls or 602s.
